July 31st - National Avocado Day
If you're from California like us, you'll know how passionate we are about the avocado. In fact, we were curious what social media had to say, and it seems as though (12,465,871) people are obsessed all around the world, just for the #avocado alone! It's no surprise that someone over here on the West Coast created a dedicated day to the yummy green fruit. It's also no surprise that we created a dedicated collection of socks to the yummy green fruit.
This year we went BIG. Take a seat, and browse our Socksmith Avocado Snack Menu. You are welcome - Happy National Avocado Day!
Make our "Guac My World" guacamole:
Makes: 4 servings
Prep time: 10 mins
You'll need:
3 large avocados (peeled, pitted and roughly chopped)
1 large lime (juiced)
1 teaspoon of salt
3/4 cup of red onion (diced)
3 tablespoons of cilantro (chopped finely)
2 tomatoes (diced)
1 small jalapeno pepper (diced) *optional
What you do:
1. Combine ingredients in a large bowl, roughly mash with fork and serve with some chips - yummy.
Make our "Avocardio Smoothie":
Makes: 2 smoothies
Prep time: 5 mins
You'll need:
1 banana
1/2 cup of frozen pineapple (cubed)
1 cup of fresh spinach (with the stems removed)
1 ripe avocado (peeled, pitted and halved)
1 cup of almond milk
1 teaspoon of honey
2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice
What you do:
1. Blend ingredients until creamy.
Add more honey for a sweeter smoothie, and if it's too thick, blend in some more almond milk. It really is simple, huh?
Make our "I Avo Crush" toast:
Makes: 2 slices
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 2 mins
You'll need:
1 ripe avocado (peeled, pitted and mashed)
2 slices of fresh sourdough bread
1/2 cup of crumbled feta
What you do:
1. Toast your bread until golden (we're not sure what setting, depends how good your toaster is - no judgement).
2. Smoother your toast with your mashed avocado
3. Sprinkle with feta
Bon Appetit
We hope you use this as an opportunity to put on your avo socks, and get creative in the kitchen!
