Parks and Recreation Month

Parks and Recreation Month

July is National Parks and Recreation Month, so what better way to celebrate than to get outside and breathe some fresh air?  Grab the kids, grandma and grandpa, your neighbor’s Aunt Tilly and get to recreating!

Experiencing the great outdoors is good for the soul, and we’re so fortunate to have such incredible parks all around us.  From the ocean to the foothills, to the desert and canyons, our bet is if you drove a couple hours from your front door, you might be right smack in the middle of Mother Nature and the National Parks so many people love and enjoy.

At Socksmith We Love Our Parks

Being a design company that also happens to sell great socks, we appreciate the beauty all around us, so we try to create designs that tell stories.  From our Mt. Rushmore socks, to our Wave, our desert scene with a prickly cactus, to our forest and even our grizzly bear, many of our designs are inspired by parks and their wonderful inhabitants.  With so many amazing National Parks to choose from, how could we go wrong?

Recently, we partnered with a photographer who spends over 200 days a year in our National Parks, driving from one place to another, taking spectacular photos and sharing them with the world.  If you see our fishing bear socks, trout socks or perhaps even beer tap socks on social media, you’ll know @axleethington has been somewhere incredible, taking pictures along the way (and hopefully living the NO BORING SOCKS lifestyle!).

The Recreation Part

Many of us at Socksmith go camping, some even go “glamping”.  Either way, camping in a beautiful park, surrounded by everything it has to offer, is a great way to spend time.  Roasting marshmallows, barbecuing a burger or hot dog, drinking a beer or perhaps a margarita, it all seems to taste better outside, surrounded by creations we can’t always explain.  If the kids happen to like playing with bugs, then be sure to grab a pair of critter socks for the trip as well. Check out our full blog post on bugs!

At Socksmith, ping pong and drinking micro brews is considered recreation, but of course hiking, canoeing, rock-climbing, fishing, surfing, stand up paddle boarding and everything in between also counts, so whatever your passion is, live it and enjoy National Parks and Recreation Month this July!
